Remco de Kok

Postdoctoral researcher

Remco is a postdoc studying the climate of High Mountain Asia.

He has a MSc. degree in aerospace engineering, but spend his PhD degree and the first ten years of his research career studying the atmospheres of worlds in our solar system and beyond. He mainly used spectroscopic remote sensing observations, in a combination with radiative transfer models, to derive properties of the atmospheres. He has a special interest in clouds, which require special radiative transfer tools for correct interpretation of the observations.

To study the Earth, he uses climate models and station data on the ground to answer questions like: Why are some glaciers growing, when most glaciers are melting?
