Emmy Stigter

PhD candidate

Emmy holds a master degree in hydrology from Utrecht University. As part of her master she did courses at the University Centre in Svalbard to study glaciology and snow dynamics. Her master research focused on combining remote sensing, field observations and a snow model to estimate snow water equivalent and snow melt runoff in the Langtang catchment in Nepal.

In her PhD she studies snow dynamics in two high-altitude Himalayan catchments. She focuses on improving the understanding of snow processes, in particular sublimation and wind-induced snow transport. For this she regularly performs fieldwork in Nepal to collect field data and she combines this with remote sensing and snow modelling.
