Darwin is a PhD candidate in the Mountain Hydrology group at Utrecht University, working at the interface of Physical Geography and Earth Sciences. His PhD investigates Himalayan precipitation change using leaf wax lipid biomarkers (n-alkanes) and their hydrogen isotopic composition (δ²H_wax) preserved in lake sediments. He investigates past Indian Summer Monsoon variability and its influence on precipitation over the past millenium.

He has a background in hydrology and high-mountain hydro-meteorology, with experience in snow cover, glacier, and permafrost studies. He has been involved in Himalayan field campaigns in remote mountain environments, including sediment coring, weather station installations, and glacier expeditions, contributing to logistics, field operations, and co-leading field activities.

Darwin holds an MSc in Hydrology and Meteorology from Tribhuvan University and completed a research exchange at Friedrich Schiller University Jena.
