Rain, glacial meltwater and groundwater all end up in one place, rivers. They transport the water from the mountain ranges via the lowlands back to the seas and oceans. People in downstream areas are often dependent on this water for their livelihoods.

It is important to study the different contributing components of the rivers in more detail to be able to determine what will happen to the water availability if any of these components changes. Therefore, our team does measurements and analyses of the different components such as glacier outlet discharges and catchment precipitation to try to unravel the complete picture.
